Donya Partow has been selling homes on the Westside of Los Angeles since August of 1988. Thirty-eight years, in a business where most careers don't last five.
What's kept her here isn't the deals. It's the moment a client walks into a house and goes quiet — that half-second before anyone says anything, when you can see on their face that they've already moved in. She's watched it happen a few hundred times now. It still gets her every time.
Because that's what a house actually is. It's where the arguments happen and the birthdays happen and where somebody's kids learn to walk. Finding the right one for someone isn't a transaction to her, and she's never been able to treat it like one.
Thirty-eight years on the Westside, and she still drives by the houses she sold.
She works across Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Westwood, Brentwood, Santa Monica, Miracle Mile, Century City and Marina del Rey — neighborhoods she knows street by street, and in many cases house by house. She has watched these blocks turn over for four decades. She knows which streets get the afternoon light, which remodels were done properly, and what a place is really worth as opposed to what it's asking.
She answers her own phone. She'll tell you what she actually thinks, including when what she thinks is don't buy this one. She keeps her client list small enough that nobody gets handed off to an assistant, and she'd rather lose a sale than talk someone into the wrong house. Most of her business comes from people she has worked with before, or from someone they sent her way — which is how she prefers it.
Donya works with clients in both English and Farsi.
Away from work, she's usually with her family, traveling somewhere new, or out at her ranch, where she does the one thing she's least likely to do in Los Angeles: nothing at all. She reads constantly and takes courses she doesn't need to take. Thirty-eight years in, she is still convinced there's a better version of herself somewhere up ahead.

Two or three sentences from past clients, with a first name and neighborhood. Real quotes only — a short text message asking for one is usually enough.
